Step 1
Start by cutting six equal-sized squares out of construction paper. If you want to create small flowers, cut small squares. If you want to create larger flowers, cut your squares larger.
Step 2
Fold each square into a triangle shape and make 2 parallel cuts 1" apart. You'll want to be careful not to cut all the way through the end fold. See the Step 2 image for a better idea where to start and finish cutting.
Step 3
Open your triangle fold up and turn the points Of the center diamond toward you as shown. Fasten the center points together with tape or a staple.
Step 4
Turn the middle diamond sides away from you (opposite of what you did in the step above). Fasten the points together with tape or a staple.
Step 5
Turn the outer triangle Sides toward you as you did in Step 3 above and attach to the center diamond with tape or a staple. At this point, all the triangles of your first petal should be fastened together.
Step 6
Repeat this for the remaining 5 flower petals.
Step 7
Gather all 6 petals together and tape/staple the ends together to form the center of the flower.
Step 8
Use a piece of green pipe cleaner or roll a piece of construction paper tightly to form the stem and attach to your completed flower. Add finishing line or string if you would like to hang your flower.
Hint
You can follow Steps 1-6 using blue or white construction paper to make pretty snowflakes during the winter weather months.
